Pianist/vocalist Katie Little is a Chicago-based musician and educator. She began piano lessons at age six and has integrated music in her life ever since. Katie has studied classical voice for over ten years and graduated with a B.A. in Music (Vocal Performance) and a B.S. in Psychology from Loyola University Chicago in 2015. During her time at Loyola, Katie served as music director for the a cappella group, The Silhouettes, spent a semester studying voice in Rome, and received the ‘Outstanding Music Major’ award upon graduating. Katie’s interests then took her to New York City on an exploration into musical theater. However, always having a passion for education, she jumped at the opportunity to teach elementary music in both her hometown of Traverse City, MI and with Chicago International Charter Schools.
Inspired by UpBeat’s mission for developing intelligent musicians in a supportive and creative environment, she is thrilled to now focus her time teaching one-on-one piano and voice lessons. Katie’s musical influences range from classical and musical theater to the sounds of her childhood home, jazz and bluegrass. When she’s not teaching, Katie enjoys singing with the Chicago Chorale and spending time outdoors!
