Bass, Guitar, violin and Piano Instructor

Thor Vutcharangkul is a musician based in Chicago. Originally from Boston, his initial music education came in the form of the violin,  performing in youth symphonies at the New England Conservatory. Under the guidance of Charlie Jennison, David Eure, and Mark Carlsen, he soon shifted his focus onto jazz and the upright bass.

He attended the College of William & Mary, where he studied sitar and Hindustani music under Professor Max Katz. He currently plays in a surf/garage rock band called Dull Ache, and releases solo work under the moniker “Thorkchop."

In his spare time, (when not playing music) you can find Thor working on short films or reading linguistics papers.
