Tips for Success:

  • Carefully read the job description and qualifications, and consider if you’d find the position interesting.

  • Take time and research UpBeat as an organization. What is it that UpBeat does? What sense of community does UpBeat help to foster? What is UpBeat’s mission and vision?

  • Consider what you will wear to your UpBeat internship interview. We keep it pretty casual around the studio, but we ask all staff to not wear any clothing with derogetory phrases, images, or holes in articles of clothing.

  • Everyone has a story to tell - including you! Before an interview, practice telling your story out loud in front of a mirror. Consider covering these three things when telling the interviewer about yourself (hint: the professional world calls this a “personal elevator pitch”):

    • Introduction and background: Introduce yourself, and tell us what makes you unique!

    • The Hook: Express an understanding of the UpBeat as an Organization and how we serve the community

    • Your Value Add: This is your chance to shine! Whether you’ve had a job before or not, think about the skills you’ve collected from places like school, another local community volunteering organization, or even at home. What skills would you be able to apply here at UpBeat?

Applicants can expect to hear from UpBeat Administration Staff within 7 business days. UpBeat may not always have internship opportunities available at the time of the receipt of application, but we will always keep applications on file to consider when openings do occur.

Please note, UpBeat does not accept unsolicited applications and will not review or consider applications from those who are not currently enrolled at UpBeat as a student.
