FAQs About UpBeat’s Fall Break Camp
How many days is the Fall Break Camp?
UpBeat’s Fall Break Camp is designed to kick kid’s boredom where it counts those first couple of days off of school, but not interfere with holiday plans! Camp will be hosted over the course of three days - Monday and Tuesday between 9:00am- 3:00pm, and a half a day on Wednesday between 9:00am-noon.
Where is camp being held?
UpBeat Music and Arts Fall Break Camp will take place at the UpBeat Studio located at 4900 N Elstone Ave.
What does a typical day of camp look like?
All campers will be dropped off between 8:30 - 9:00am, Monday through Wednesday. Mornings are filled with dynamic music instruction, typically in group piano and theory class settings. Unless the weather is very cold or wet, each day we will lead campers to a local park to eat lunch. Then, in the afternoons, students have the opportunity to dive deeper into their main instrument instruction or participate in multi-instrumental electives. Camper pick-up happens between 3:00 - 3:30pm on Monday and Tuesday and between 12:00-12:30pm on Wednesday.
Will my camper need to bring anything with them each day to camp?
Yes! All campers must bring their own refillable water bottle, a bagged lunch, appropriate outerwear for the playground, and a great attitude and willingness to learn!
What are my responsibilities as a participating parent or guardian?
You are responsible for completing your child’s registration and subsequent waiver and medical disclosures form, and completing payment for camp. You’ll also be responsible for dropping off and picking up your camper on time, with their water bottle, bagged lunch and outerwear. You will also need to keep our staff informed of any health concerns. Please communicate clearly and kindly with camp staff in person and via email as needed.
Do the campers ever go outside?
Yes, weather permitting, each day counselors will lead campers to a local park to eat lunch and play.
My child is somewhat reserved and has never performed or played music before. Will they enjoy camp?
Yes - absolutely! Our instructors are masterful at bringing students out of their shells through mentorship and arts education. The activities we plan on a daily basis are designed to foster creative expression, help students gain confidence and celebrate their musical wins at all levels, while working patiently and respectfully with each other and our staff.
Do you offer any discounts for camps?
Yes - if you sign up more than one camper in a household, additional siblings or household members will receive 10% off of the registration cost.
Do you offer scholarships?
Yes, based on financial need and camp availability, both full and partial scholarships are available. Please reach out to Sara at srodites@upbeatma.org for more information.
What is your refund policy in case our Thanksgiving plans change?
In the event of an unforeseen conflict, if you must unenroll your student from Fall Break Camp, tuition can be refunded up to four weeks prior to the first day of camp. If you need to unenroll your student between 4-2 weeks prior to camp, a refund can be issued less a $100 deposit. There are no refunds for camps less than two weeks before the camp start date.
I’ve never heard of UpBeat’s Fall Break Camp - is it new?
Yes! Fall Break Camp was born out of parents of current and prospective students asking about UpBeat’s programming during weeks their students are not in school, and we are truly delighted to bring our community this new, in-demand offering! Please note, if this camp does not reach our set minimum sign-up capacity, UpBeat reserves the right to cancel the camp, in which case all who have signed up will receive a full refund of their camp tuition.
