UpBeat scholarship Application

“More Than a Music Lesson”

Thank you for your interest in the UpBeat Music and Arts Scholarship Fund. Within the application we ask about personal pieces information including race, gender, and socio/economic background. You may choose “Prefer Not to Disclose” as an answer from the drop-down box on any of those demographic questions you do not wish to answer, but please read more about why these data points are important and why we ask for them below.

Because of UpBeat’s status as a non-profit 501(c)(3), we rely on generous donations from individuals, corporations, and local and national grant foundations to help us secure necessary funding for our scholarship programming and to help us realize our mission of providing quality music education to students of ALL BACKGROUNDS. We use the demographic data collected from our applications to help us secure further grant dollars from foundations which may specifically award funding to organizations, like UpBeat, who aim to support education opportunities for underrepresented groups within the community. Please rest assured any data we provide to external foundations will use only collective demographic points, and your name and contact information will never be shared with any entity outside of UpBeat Music and Arts.

Scholarship applicants can expect to hear from UpBeat’s administration staff within 7 business days.
