Music Camp (Ages 7+)

Our Music Camp is for everyone! This is a fun opportunity for beginners to try piano for the first time or for experienced students to be inspired and grow as musicians.

Days are structured for students to learn mainly on the piano, with optional electives in the afternoon such as other instrument exploration and singing. Students develop a deeper understanding of music theory and ear training through breakout sessions and group activities.

Each week culminates in a Music Showcase in which parents and families are invited to attend.

All levels welcome.

Rock Band Camp (Ages 10+)

Our Rock Band Camp is centered around full-band rehearsals and instrumental/vocal breakouts with coaching from instructors. The week culminates in a concert on Friday. The UpBeat Rock Band Camp is for students with previous playing experience on voice, guitar, piano, bass or drums.

  • Vocalitsts: Ability to memorize lyrics and sing harmonies.

  • Guitarists / Pianists: Ability to play chords, pentatonic scales and read chord charts.

  • Bassists: Ability to read chord charts, play root notes of chords and play with a metronome.

  • Drummers: Ability to read chord charts, play a beat with the metronome and do basic fills without losing the time.

*Audition is required for Rock Band Camp. To audition, contact: srodites@upbeatma.org.

Vocal Camp (Ages 10+)

With a focus on vocal technique and performance, students will learn how to grow in their individual vocal practice and become stronger and more confident performers. Students will gain independence by learning how to pick repertoire and ‘warm-up’ on their own. They will learn how to manage nerves and strengthen their presence on stage. Throughout the week, students will be working to showcase their new skills in a variety of musical genres: pop, rock, musical theater, and more!

By the end of Vocal Performance camp, students will…

  • Have gained skills to manage their performance nerves.

  • Be able to prepare themselves for a performance or showcase.

  • Be able to take themselves through basic vocal warm-ups.

  • Know how to use their body and physicality to enhance their performance.
